Meet Miss Ella! Ella receives special recognition for being one of the most amazing and easy to work with newborn clients in the last year. She was like a photographer’s unicorn. She slept the entire time, let me do all the super-hard poses, stayed sleeping through outfit changes and position changes, and didn’t pee, poo, or spit up on anything! Miss Ella, please come back and see us again sometime!!! Haha!
Just when I think I’ve had enough little girls in pink, a session like this comes along and once again, I’m in love. So simple but so beautiful. Pink always looks amazing against newborn skin. Miss Ella is showing off several of my homemade prop items: her cream outfit was sewn by me, her wrap was knit by me, and most of her headbands were handmade by me. (pats self on the back lol!) Sometimes if you want something done just how you want it to look, you have to do it yourself and since I’ve been working fewer hours these days, I figured why not get some new things made for the studio. I keep saying that one of these days I’ll show some tutorials on how to make a few of these items so stay tuned.
This beautiful flowered backdrop is one of my favorites from Intuition Backgrounds. It’s their Juliette Light drop in cloth. Her pink bucket is a metal bucket from Michael’s that I spray painted myself. The super-soft pink layer was made out of some yarn I picked up recently at Hobby Lobby which you can find here. If you know me at all, you know that I like to stay busy… but my husband likes to veg out so I get a lot of knitting done in the evenings while we watch something on Netflix. Right now our current binge is The Mindy Project… because right now with everything going on in the world I’m in need of a good laugh! The photo below is actually a digital composite image which is a newborn add on feature that you can add on to any newborn package. You can find out more about Digital Composites on our featured blog post article here.
Look at that sweet face! A lot of babies don’t like this bed position. So many babies these days have acid reflux or are colicky. Not this sweet pea – she posed like a champ. The photo below is one of my favorites from this session. The simple cream really makes baby stand out in the photo, and then just a touch of sweetness with the tieback.

We used Kristen for our newborn photos and could not be happier! Kristen was very responsive and professional when emailing her questions. She was very gentle with our newborn and got some amazing shots. Her photos speak for themselves, they are amazing! She is very talented at what she does. I will tell all of our family and friends to go to her for newborn photos!Danika & Joe
