It’s that time of year again! When everyone suddenly realizes that the warm season is about to disappear and remembers that fall leaves make the best family photos – which there is really only a 2-week window of ideal fall colors so everyone scrambles to try to get scheduled for photos in time. (What I’m trying to say here is book early! It breaks my heart how many people I can’t fit into my schedule this time of year because they want to do their session within a few days of reaching out.) But! This year, fall came extra early! Like a whole month early so this client, who wasn’t expecting to get fall colors, instead got the most gorgeous color tones and sunset EVER! And their outfits matched just perfectly, too. We had an unseasonably warm day this day. You’d never know that we were all melting in 80-degree weather. Not only that but I literally got eaten alive by mosquitos. These kids were serious troopers. Some of the absolutely best behaved children I have ever had the pleaser of photographing. Mom was a good friend of mine back in high school and it is always such an honor when people who know me ask me to photograph them.
I love photographing large families! I have 4 siblings. I find it so much fun watching how the kids interact with each other and help each other out. If you have a large family, I highly encourage you to consider our heirloom session. This allows us enough time to capture photos of:
- The whole family posed
- The whole family interacting
- Just the kids together
- Each kid separately
- Mom with all the kids
- Dad with all the kids
These photos were taken at the Lake Elmo Park Reserve. If you love these photos but haven’t ever been there (I know it can be a bit intimidating), don’t worry! I walk you through the whole process by providing you with a map of where to park and where we will meet. I’ve spent a lot of time at this park and have scouted out the best location(s) that are located close to parking areas so that you and your family aren’t having to walk a mile in order to reach a good area. There is a very small fee to enter this park, right now it is $7, but I assure you, it is worth it! It’s also a popular place to take photos so if you are booking during peak season and want to do sunset photos, I’d recommend scheduling your session for a week night if you can.
Ahhhh! How cute is this last photo??? I LOVE when parents request a special creative photo. And it’s even better when the kiddos cooperate so nicely for it, too. HAHA! Come on, you parents know exactly what I mean! 🙂
