One of my favorite things to do is to is bum around and take photographs for personal solace. How often do I do this? Ohhh… about next to NEVER. Sad, I know. It’s something I need to work harder at scheduling into my me time a little more often. Recently a friend of mine and I decided to go check out Minnehaha Falls for the afternoon. Now, I’ve been there before. I’ve taken photos there before. But oddly enough it was only in the winter and yes, it was for a client. Unfortunately, this day turned out to be a dreary one. Luckily the rich green tones from the trees really came through but the sky was… blah.

The falls are a site of beauty and mystery combined with sounds of calmness and tranquility. I could have sat by them for hours and never gotten bored. I think it would be fun to visit this area again in the fall time and capture the colors of the leaves with the sun shinning through. Here are a few photos from the day. Nothing too mind blowing but I did manage to capture a moment of that tranquility with the eye of my lens. Just close your eyes and imagine the sounds of the water rushing over the falls. Ahh… my happy place!

Daevon turns 3!

August 24th, 2011

If time goes by this fast for me as a photographer watching these children grow up, I can’t even imagine what it is like for the parents! I have been photographing Daevon since he was 2 months old. He has grown from an adorable baby into a handsome little man who has sooo much energy. […]

If time goes by this fast for me as a photographer watching these children grow up, I can’t even imagine what it is like for the parents! I have been photographing Daevon since he was 2 months old. He has grown from an adorable baby into a handsome little man who has sooo much energy. I wish he could share some with the rest of us! Today we went out to Como Park to take some photos. 3 years is so much more delightful to photograph that 2 years because they finally understand the concept of bribery 🙂 Today’s bribery was gummy worms and it only took one time for Daevon to understand that smiles earned WORMS! Sure… this only works for so long, but it worked for long enough. Look at his dashing smiles. What a good looking kid he is. Oh next year seems so far away but I bet it will sneak up on us fast once again just like it always does. Happy Birthday sweet boy!

Who doesn’t LOVE kittens? They are the most adorable tiny little fluff balls that just want to be held and want to play and are just oh so cute cute cute! I was so excited when a client got a hold of me and asked… so? would you photograph my kitten? HECK YA I will! […]

Who doesn’t LOVE kittens? They are the most adorable tiny little fluff balls that just want to be held and want to play and are just oh so cute cute cute! I was so excited when a client got a hold of me and asked… so? would you photograph my kitten? HECK YA I will! How about right this second, and then I might just stick him in my pocket and bring him home with me. 🙂 Little Miko was 8 weeks old when we did his photo session. Boy do those critters grow fast and run fast and get bored fast. We went out to Battle Creek to play in the grass and it didn’t take long until he was ready to go home so not to many poses for this little guy. But all in all, it’s pretty tough to take a photo of a kitten that isn’t cute. So if you have a kitten, puppy, horse, goat… monkey… mouse… bunny… anything young and fur-ball like and want photos done, let me know! I don’t get asked to do this often enough. (please no snakes or spiders- must be fur-ball in nature)

Meet Mr. Brayden who just turned 1 year old! Isn’t he handsome? All boy with blond hair, blue eyes, and a smile that just makes you want to eat him up. We had fun hanging out at the park. Ok… well Brayden wasn’t too thrilled having his photo taken so we tried really hard to have a ton of fun and I think we got some really great photos! Mom and Dad did a super job at making Brayden smile. Sometimes it can be hard to photograph children when they recognize and for an unknown reason just simply do not like seeing a camera around. This can sometimes become a better opportunity to try to focus more on candid photos so that the session is not a loss. Sometimes those photos can capture the true personality of the child which can be cherished memories. I can’t WAIT to watch you grow up Brayden!

This summer I had the privilege of assisting for my girlfriend at Jackie and Kyle’s wedding which was held outdoors at beautiful Green Haven Golf Course. This couple was so much fun. I really had a blast. The day started out with a first look on the gulf course and Jackie surprised her sweetheart with an engraved wedding band. It was pretty a perfect moment.

I love outdoor weddings. It is such a bummer that you just never know what the weather is going to be but for most of them the weather turns out great which makes for amazing photos with beautiful backgrounds. Her wedding colors really popped against the green as well. Super fun. Did I mention that they had been together for 8 years? It was time for a crazy celebration!
